RAPid Tooling Components™ also known as “RTC” was developed by Rentapen Inc.’s design team in 2002. .,〔(Rentapen ) Founder George Straley〕 Rentapen Inc created the RTC product line in response to their customers’ need for dramatic reduction in the overall design, set-up, and build costs of weld tooling fixtures. rapID Tooling Components™ (RTC) reduce the design time of a weld fixture by eliminating the need to design, detail and check similar parts over and over again. RAPid Tooling Components™ reduce the build time of a fixture by reducing the time and material needed to program the CNC, create the part, and check the part. File:Fixture sample.jpg| RAPid Blocks™ are standard yet versatile parts that are used to locate pins, rest pads, jig feet, and other parts in a fixture.〔32 (different footprints )〕 created with RTC RAPid Blocks™ can be ordered with different holes such as tapped holes, drilled and counter bored holes, press fit dowels, or slip fit dowels. When RAPid Blocks™ are counter bored, the counter bore is on both sides of the block. The designer can then flip the block around to meet different needs and spacing constraints. RAPid Blocks™ can have holes in both ends of the block or only one end. A RAPid Block™ with holes in only one end leaves room for the Machine Designer to modify or alter the end of the block without holes. Oftentimes Designers will mount a flat foot, rest pad, RAPid Plate, or pin in the end without a hole. Easy to design into a fixture, RAPid Blocks™ are also easy to assemble once they arrive at the shop. A drill point on the face of a block indicates that the dowel holes are slip fit. A face without a drill point indicates that the dowel hole is a press fit. This helps the machine assembler as they put the fixture together. The RP00 is mostly used when a designer wants all parts to be mounted from above the base plate, making it easier to access fasteners to remove the fixture parts if needed in the future. RAPid Plates™ RP02 and RP03 are plates that help locate the product in a fixture. They can be used as stop plates, goal posts for round or square product parts, or rough locating guides. A rough locating guide will get the part close to where it needs to be in a fixture so another locating part such as a pin can be used to locate a hole in the product part. A rough locating devise can speed up the production process by guiding the product part into the fixture. File:Plates.jpg| RAPid Risers™ are used under name-brand clamps to lift them into place. The mounting holes in clamp risers are able to fit a wide variety of brands and sizes: Carr Lane, REID, De-Sta-Co, TE-CO, All American, and Jergens. The CAD Drafter or Machine Designer simply looks for the clamp number on Rentapen’s RAPid Riser™ catalog page to get the corresponding RAPid Riser™ part number. RAPid Risers™ range from ½ inch tall to 4 inches tall. Rentapen accepts special requests for clamp risers that are taller or at height not listed in Rentapen’s Catalog. RAPid Shims™ are thin sheets of metal cut to size and used to finely adjust the location of parts in a weld fixture. Before a weld fixture goes into production a prototype of the product can be welded together and measured to see if it fits within the tolerance specifications required. If the product fails to fit within the measurements required, the weld fixture can be adjusted by adding or removing shims in the necessary locations. Another prototype is welded and tested and the process is repeated until the product passes the measured specifications. Shims are also used to help mounting pins in blocks that need to be fixed or fine tuned in their location in the assembly.
